Introduction

The Institute for Public-Private Partnerships Inc. (IP3) and the Water, Engineering, and Development Centre of Loughborough University (WEDC/LU) have developed and approved a set of standards to administer the following Professional Certification programs:

The standards provide guidelines on individual course approval procedures for each professional certification, the monitoring procedures that each participant receives as they progress through their certification process, and overall quality control and management of each professional certification experience.

Purpose of the Standards

The purpose of the standards is to establish overall procedures for quality control and quality assurance in the approval and acceptance of individual courses for each professional certification, in the management of each professional certification, and monitoring of participant progress during their certification program.

Responsibilities

To oversee the standards, IP3 and WEDC/LU have created a "Certification Monitoring Committee" who will meet quarterly to carry out their duties as defined below.

Duties of the Certification Monitoring Committee (CMC)

The duties of the Certification Monitoring Committee are as follows:

  • Establish overall policy and procedures for the development and maintenance of each of the professional certification programs.
  • Develop, review and update the standards for individual course approval for each professional certification.
  • Review and approve courses for inclusion in the Catalog of Approved Courses for each professional certification on a quarterly basis.

Standards for Individual Courses

To be considered for inclusion on the Catalog of Approved Courses for each professional certification, training providers/institutions must complete the Training Provider Application Form. The Certification Monitoring Committee will review each course application submission by adhering to the standards provided below .

Each course must:

  • Further the overall goals of each professional certification in terms of topic, length, and relevance.
  • Be consistent and appropriate for an adult learning environment.
  • Indicate a sound course structure, including quality faculty, core curriculum (including composition of presentations, case studies, and simulation activities), administration, and evaluation functions.
  • Demonstrate satisfactory references and/or testimonials from alumni.
  • Be offered by an existing training provider or education institution with a solid overall reputation and track record in the relevant subject fields.

The standards will be reviewed on an annual basis.
